H&M to Miami

My job doesn't usually require any travel, but when we found out that H&M was opening in Miami, Lincoln Rd to be exact, I just had to go! After spending my college years in Miami without the luxury of shopping at H&M, this was a pretty big deal for me. I've never had to stay at a hotel in Miami, because I have so many friends and even family there, that I usually stay with. This time I was staying at the Ritz Carlton. Being waited on hand and foot was pretty amazing, after the stressful weeks I've been having. We began our day by taking a walk to see the store. If you know Miami, you know that Lincoln Rd is kind of a big deal for a retailer. Not only would H&M be opening on Lincoln Rd, but in the old Lincoln Theater! When we arrived, they were still adding the finishing touches for the press party that night.

Later in the night, with the red carpet rolled out, guests included Chase Crawford, Matthew Morrison, Real Housewives of Miami and a special performance by Flo Rida.

The next day (opening day), there were 500 people waiting on line to get in. Yes, 500 people. I'm not sure why people wait in lines for a retail store opening. It's still mind boggling to me. We were lucky enough to be some of the very few to be able to pre shop before the massive crowd arrived. Before the doors opened and the ribbon was cut, H&M's CEO gave a really inspiring speech about how this moment is making history for H&M and Miami. I will admit, I shed a tear. Okay, maybe two. The space was so massive, I'm pretty sure I lost my sister about 4 times. My favorite part about the entire store is that there was a register in the dressing room! How genius is that?!

Oh hello..

To celebrate, that night we had an amazing dinner at Meat Market, followed by drinks, and a little trip to the Fontainebleau's LIV. Now this little trip lasted into the wee hours of the morning, which included a stolen iphone, and more fun than I've had in a long time. The next night, to continue the celebration, we headed to the SLS hotel for dinner, dessert and a night full of laughs to end a great and exhausting trip.

Exactly a week later, I flew back to Miami to enjoy some me time. I laid at the pool everyday, book in hand and trying desperately to find my inner peace again. It's not often that I find time alone, so I soaked up every minute. Literally.

Happy Black Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Hope it was a great one!

1. Although I'm not a huge Football fan, I spent my Thanksgiving night at the Jets vs Patriots game. Even in the cold, we had a great time!

2.  I work late nights most of the time. I never have time to sit back with a cup of coffee, and a book, so I really treasure these moments.

3. Every year Glamour Magazine has a Women of the Year awards show. I was lucky enough to be invited this year. Post to come!

4. During a rainy night last week, my sister and I decided to veg out and watch movies. I love those nights.

5. I haven't had time to write in the past couple of weeks, because I've been back and forth to Miami twice this month. A post on my trips to come shortly!

Black has always been my go to color to wear. You can't go wrong and it always looks great. After a summer full of color, I'm so excited to bring back the Black!
What's your go to color to wear?

It's Friday!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! Thankfully, it's Friday!

1. Unfortunately, NY was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy this week. Many, including myself lost power, so I've been catching up on some reading which I'm thoroughly enjoying.

2.  My best friend asked me to be a bridesmaid! Loved the DIY idea she came up with. So cute! Of course, I said Yes! The wedding is next July and we just ordered the bridesmaids dresses. Once we get them altered, I will post some pictures!

3. I had a meeting with Glamour magazine last week (before Sandy) and they gave us this fab notebook.

4. I am in love with these earrings from the Anna Dello Russo with H&M collection!

5. Last week I was invited to an Us Weekly & Jersey Shore cast lunch. It turned out to be a pretty good lunch. That is until I had 15 minutes to get downtown for a meeting! If you're worried, I had a great cab driver, and arrived 4 minutes early.

An at Home Salon

I usually don't have time to visit a salon, and when I do, they usually don't do a very good job.
I've found that doing my own nails allows me to save money and the hassle of trying to find the perfect salon. You first need to have the essentials:

Start by removing any left over polish from your previous manicure. Continue by filing nails into the shape you like. I like to soak my nails in soap and water to help soften the cuticles. Keep them in the water for at least 5 minutes each hand. Remove slowly and dab hands to remove excess water. Gently push cuticles back and cut excess skin. Depending on how your nails feel, will depend on whether the buffer is needed. If you have ridges in your nails, definitely use the buffer to soften the nail. I then wash my hands to remove all the oils and dust. I'm obsessed with  Fruit of the Earth's Vitamin E cream. I use it like it's going out of style during the winter. It really helps with dry/cracked skin and keeps hands baby soft!

Always start with a clear top coat of polish. It protects the nails from changing colors. Follow with the nail color of your choice. I chose Essie's Wicked. Make sure you always end with a second coat of the clear top coat. Helps keep nails from chipping. And if you're anything like me, you enjoy the shine!

What are some of your manicure routines? Do you have a manicurist you are loyal to?
