Apartment Style

I haven't completely finished decorating my apartment. Hence, why you haven't seen full pictures yet. But during my glorious days off, I've had a chance to make some new additions.

First, I desperately needed lamps for my bedroom. The lighting in the room is not so great, and I like things bright. Really bright. I knew I wanted crystal lamps, it was just a matter of shape and size. So on one of my weekly trips to my favorite store I found a really cute lamp. It wasn't crystal, but had a white base and a beige shade. Notice I said lamp. There was only one. So in hopes of finding the second one in another location, I took it. Then I headed to another location, only to be disappointed. If Home Goods has taught me anything, it's that when you find something you love, you buy it. Right then and there. There's no time to think about it and come back. I ended up returning that lamp, for two reasons. One, I couldn't find a second one, and two, it turns out I didn't even like the lamp that much. I was just so desperate. A few weeks later on another trip to the homeland, I found beautiful crystal lamps. It was like the clouds had parted, and angels sang "Ahhh" These were the lamps. I'm sure you're thinking "They're just lamps". But to me, they're more than that. It's a sense of accomplishment. The plus? They're 3 way lamps! This week, I also found these peonies and vase which match perfectly with my room. (Obsessed) 

On a little trip to Target this week,(this hardly ever happens) I did some major damage. Lately, I've been really into quatrefoil patterns. I have pillows, curtains and now mirrors that I'm in love with. It's so classic, and clean. Two things that are important to me when decorating my apartment. So while strolling through the aisles, I found these great quatrefoil pattern mirrors. They add a little touch of beauty to my bedroom.

I also found this gorgeous storage "bucket". I've placed it in the corner of my living room, holding extra blankets and pillows for those cozy winter movie nights. Every time I look at it, I smile. I love great finds! I can't wait for the day where I can decorate an entire house!

Finally Fall

 Having this whole week off, has been relaxing to say the least. Today is the first day I've spent an entire day in my apartment. (I've lived here for 3 months). I've been thoroughly enjoying it. Windows are open, candles are burning, a fresh brewed cup of coffee in my hand, with my dog/love of my life sitting by my side. I'd say this is a pretty awesome day. I'm trying to take advantage of having this week off before starting my new job. I haven't had much time to spend soaking up having my own apartment. There's so much I want to do as far as decorating and designing, in so little time! I only have 9 months left in this apartment before I a) re-sign the lease for another year or b) buy a house. 

When I first saw my front door, my thought was "I need a wreath!" I've always had an obsession with them. Not sure why. I think it just makes a home seem homier (is that a word?) I've been shopping around looking at fall wreaths for about a month. Now that fall has finally decided to show up (where have you been?, it's almost October), it was time to get a wreath up there! The last couple of times I stopped by my favorite store, I found beautiful wreaths. One problem, they were $20-$40. I can't bring myself to spend that much on something that will either get ruined in the rain, or blown away in a storm. So I decided to take a trip to The Christmas Tree Shop. There, I found that cute little wreath below for $5.99. Does it get any better than that? This way if something happens to it, I won't feel so bad. It's also really warm and welcoming!

Then I found Mason Jars for $.89. That's 89 cents! So I bought 2, and filled it with flowers I made. I put the little pumpkin and lantern with it on my window sill. Adding an extra bit of "welcome" to those who visit. Last, I found this AMAZING lemonade scented candle at Target for $2.99 (mind blown). As you know, I love anything yellow. Add in the scent of lemonade, and I'm hooked. I currently have this candle lit, giving my apartment a freshly baked lemon pound cake scent.

Hoping I get to spend more time at home this week. In addition to spending more time shopping for my apartment. It's like an addiction. One I don't mind having.

Weekend Recap

Nothing beats apple picking in the fall. Driving upstate for a fun filled family day is something I look forward to every year. One day of running around, climbing trees, jumping to grab apples. I get butterflies every time. It's the memories I have of doing it for so many years. Getting to pick and eat your own apple right then and there is my favorite part. I probably ate about 8-9 apples. Add in some apple pie a la mode, a cider donut and you have a recipe for diet destruction at it's best.

Funny story here.. As I waited in line with my green ticket (as the sign says) I notice that I'm the only adult waiting to ride the pony. Yes, the pony. Listen, I've loved horses my whole life. Unfortunately, in New York, there aren't many times in ones life that you get to ride a horse/pony. So I took advantage. When it was my turn, the woman asked a little girl behind me to come up and get on the pony. I quickly realized they didn't know I was waiting to ride. So I said "Excuse me, I've been waiting" Then the "OMG, I'm so sorry" started for a good 45 seconds...As I walked up, I announced myself. "Yes, I am an adult who wants to ride the pony." In the end, I'm really glad I did it. Those 3 minutes were awesome. Hoping I get to ride an adult horse soon. Hopefully next time I won't be ignored. Happy Harvest!
